Enjoy a 60 or 90 Minute Float in our 6' x 9' custom, glass enclosed Float Pool with 9' ceilings. Our Float Pool has about 250 gallons of solution, approximately 12" deep and uses around 1200 pounds of dissolved epsom salts to make you float weightlessly.  Our unique set up provides ample room in the Float Pool, differentiating us from other local facilities with a smaller pod enclosure. For those who can't seem to get a good arm span, leg stretch, felt claustrophobic, or that they are breathing recycled air, our Float Pool provides a comfortable alternative to a pod enclosure. If you have ever been too cold, hot, or cannot seem to get into a comfortable position this can deter you from future floating and quitting before you have really experienced the benefits of float therapy. UTB offers many bolstering methods, room temperature, water temperature, and other comfort options, free of charge to learn your preferred float environment. For sound options, you can float with nothing like traditional sensory deprivation sessions, or a personalized experience with your own music, music we have pre selected and tested with success, or even guided meditations and chakra balancing floats. To figure out your ideal floating environment, we recommend purchasing a 3 float package ($180 only available at first visit) to figure out your preferences and we will prepare your room to your desired specifications. 

We are open 7 days a week for floating, however, only have a limited number of float appointments per day due to the individualized and personalized experience we offer.  Available at no charge are: swim caps, underwater headphones, combs, hair ties, and other amenities normally charged for at other facilities. We want to let you try options to find what works best for you without a huge additional expense.  UTB is the Only Float Facility in Puyallup, currently, and the only Float Facility in Pierce County to be approved for an extra level of purification in our Float Pool. We use Ozone to help with our sanitization in addition to UV and filtration systems, maintaining high standards for a sanitary environment each time you float. People float to relieve stress, recover from injuries, fight addiction, eliminate chronic pain, decrease inflammation, anxiety, and much more. Studies indicate that floating increases your dopamine and endorphin levels, boosting your mood and leaving you with a pleasant afterglow that lasts for days afterwards and the magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) is good for muscle tension, inflammation, and nervous system regulation.

Without the need to fight gravity or take-in external information, you’ll likely experience the most complete relaxation you’ve ever felt.

Everything you experience while floating comes from within yourself. It’s the perfect time to do nothing, reflect on your life, or have creative and personal insight time. Float tanks can also be thought of as training wheels for meditation. After about 30-45 minutes of floating, your mind starts producing theta brainwaves, which are responsible for that ‘between waking & sleeping’ state. After years of practice, people can enter theta state through deep meditation. Float tanks get you there with hardly any effort at all.

People have cut strokes off their golf game, developed complex scientific theories, and drafted whole portions of books while floating. With nothing to distract you, your level of concentration and knowledge absorption is astonishing.

Floatation therapy is about everything that you won’t be doing. You won’t be fighting gravity. The 1200 pounds of epsom salt in the water takes care of that while you lie on your back. The water is kept typically at 93.5 - 96.4 degrees, although we sometimes run up to 97.2 for client comfort. Air temp ranges from 82-85 degrees fahrenheit. The pool temperature is just around skin-receptor neutral, which means you lose track of where your body ends and the water begins. Your ears stay just below the water, and the tanks are insulated against sound. Noise from the outside doesn’t reach you. After you shut the door and turn off the light, you float in total darkness, however, you can ease into darkness or float with light on the whole time. During your float the outside world is gone, and amazing things happen. It turns out that when you’re not fighting gravity or constantly taking in information your body has a lot of extra resources at its disposal. Your mind is free to mull things over without distraction, your brain waves slow down, and your body gets to rest, de-stress, and heal. It’s likely to be the most relaxing thing you’ve ever experienced.

Do you wear anything when floating?

Since you will be alone behind a locked door, most people don't wear any clothing. Swimsuits can harbor bacteria and contaminate the pool solution and it can cause a distraction from pressing against the body when floating. 

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope, just yourself. Towels, earplugs, swim caps, underwater headphones, microfiber hair towels, hair ties, combs, cotton swabs for ears, and everything else that you might need are provided.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

Our Float Pool is larger and more open than a pod, chamber, or tank, so if you have had past issues floating our Pool is a great option

Can I drown if I fall asleep?

Nope. Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant you stay afloat. The worst that can happen is getting woken up by a bit of salt water in your eyes.

How Is the Float Pool kept clean?

The rooms are sanitized top to bottom before each session. The salt water is fully filtered and sterilized with UV and Ozone in between each float to ensure a safe and clean environment.

Is it safe for pregnant women and baby?

Absolutely. The decreased gravitational pull environment a Float Pool provides is great for an ease on joints and muscles. We do however advise avoiding during the first trimester and do ask for a note from your care provider stating you are cleared for Floating at your first session.

Are there any times I won't be allowed to float?

  • Infectious skin, digestive or respiratory ailments or disorders
  • Open wounds
  • Incontinence
  • Epilepsy or serious mental conditions
  • A high-risk pregnancy
  • Have colored or permed your hair within  7 days (we have swim caps for after) 
  • Under the influence of any drug or alcohol
  • Currently menstruating - without use of internal collection product
  • Under 18 without parental presence
  • If you have had a spray tan in the past 10 days
  • We expect you to inform us of any conditions for your own safety and the safety of other floaters! We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time.
  • Can I bring a friend?

    Absolutely. It can be great to have someone around to talk to about the experience afterwards. Our facility only has 1 Float Pool however.

    Is this new - agey mumbo jumbo?

    Floating has been around for over 60 years, and has oodles of published research to back it up. No mumbo or jumbo here.

    Tips For a Good Float Session:

    - Dont shave night before or day of float.

    - Remove contacts prior to floating.

    - Wear the ear plugs, unless doing a guided meditation.

    - Do not ingest caffeine too close to float time or eat a large meal within 30 minutes prior, however, small snack definitely ok.

    - Be willing to try a few things with music and positioning to learn what best supports your body during the float session.

    - It takes sometimes up to 30 minutes your first session to just settle into the idea. Second float is always faster...and by third float you are almost a pro.

    - Drink plenty of water after your float.
