Nancy Paine Sherman is the Acupuncture Practitioner at Unlocking The Body and has been practicing since January 2002, treating a wide variety of conditions including pain, insomnia, depression, arthritis, traumatic injuries, migraines and fatigue. She received her Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from University of Washington and later received her Masters in Acupuncture at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle, WA. Nancy has a broad wealth of knowledge and experience with an eclectic approach to treating patients that utilizes multiple styles from East Asian Medicine but also some non-traditional modalities such as Sound Therapy with tuning forks and Tibetan bowls. One of her special interests is mental health & chemical dependency and she has provided group acupuncture in several rehabilitation & mental health clinics since 2003. She is very active in her community, has donated her acupuncture services to several non-profit clinics, including the 45th Street Clinic in Seattle. Nancy currently volunteers with Alternative Healthcare Access Campaign, treating residents in an all-women transitional housing facility. In the future, Nancy plans on further training in Japanese Meridian Therapy. She is also working with a mentor to become a Registered Trainer for the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association with hopes to clinically supervise acupuncture students. In her spare time, Nancy practices yoga, takes long walks with her standard poodle Sylvie, reads The New Yorker, listens to NPR and enjoys time with her musician husband, a son, a daughter, and 3 beautiful “grand-girls”.
